DENMARK

ABOUT DENMARK

I had little expectations of Denmark but was pleasantly surprised at the minimalism culture and hygge energy. I was so fortunate to get to spend my 27th birthday in Copenhagen, Denmark! This country was nothing like I had expected -- with beautiful rolling hills to colorful building and an INSANE biking culture (that rivals Amsterdam), I quickly fell in love. My partner and I spent an incredible week exploring the city and surrounding areas and got to experience most of what the city had to offer. From river cruises to hidden trolls, Denmark was a magical adventure I would recommend to any traveler.

Travel Tips - Denmark

Lodging

For our stay in Copenhagen, we booked our stay through Go Hotel just outside the city center. As with most of my trips to Europe, this stay was certainly a budget decision but served our purposes very nicely! The hotel was very close to the tram station, which worked really well commuting in and around the city. Since this was my first time in Scandinavia, I was SHOCKED at how small and cramped everything in the hotel was. They are very efficient with their space! The hotel was very clean and the service was great -- would recommend!

Transportation

As with all the navigation around Europe, planes, trains, and busses are a great way to get around. All of the trams were navigable with Google Maps, and Uber was readily available if we needed it. As a reminder, flights in and around Europe are really easy to find on Skyscanner as well as Google Flights.

Activities

There is a lot you can do in and around Copenhagen! Whether you want to do a day tour or just walk through the city, there are so many different things to do. Here are some of our top recommendations:

  • Meander through Nyhavn

  • Climb the Forest Tower

  • Search for hidden trolls
