TÜRKIYE

ABOUT TÜRKIYE
With one foot in Europe and one in Asia, Istanbul absolutely stole our hearts. As a cat and tea lover, Istanbul had everything I could ever ask for! My friend Sara, my partner Colin, and I spent a few days exploring this picturesque city. While I was initially apprehensive to travel to Istanbul, we felt incredible safe and found the city relatively easy to navigate. There are countless things to do in this magical country.

Travel Tips - Türkiye
Lodging
Our stay in Istanbul was incredibly unique and was in a great location! We booked with Airbnb at the Cosy Relaxing Terrace near the Galata Tower, and while it was a challenge to get into the unit itself, the stay was lovely and served our needs. We had a beautiful view of the city from the balcony, and it was within a block of the Galata Tower which was an area bustling with shops, cafes, and restaurants. Our host, İsa, was exceptional as well.
Transportation
For transportation around the city in Istanbul, we used Uber to get to and from the airport and around to different parts of the city. Since we didn't have too much time to see everything (we were only there for two full days), we did a hop-on-hop off tour which was wonderful to get around to the main attractions. One thing to note is that the traffic is TERRIBLE in Istanbul -- sometimes it took us over an hour to get 15 minutes across the city. Plan accordingly! Otherwise, the area was very easy to navigate on foot.
Activities
We absolutely made the most of our limited time in Istanbul, but here are some of our top recommendations for things to do when visiting Türkiye:
-
Explore the beautiful Blue Mosque with the Mega Pass
-
Brave the Turkish Bath experience (do your research beforehand!)
-
Enjoy the sensory experience at the spice markets
